We all know the saying, “pressure makes diamonds.” But, what about the pressure we feel in our daily lives? That, we often resent. The truth is, stress isn’t the enemy—it’s unavoidable. If you think happiness comes from eliminating stress, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. The only way to avoid stress completely is to never step outside your comfort zone. But even then, you’ll deal with the regret of never reaching your full potential.
So, what if stress isn’t the problem? What if the way you see it is?
Not All Stress is Bad
There are two types of stress:
Distress is the overwhelming kind—the anxiety, exhaustion, and frustration that leave you drained. It can wreck your health if you don’t manage it properly.
Eustress is the productive kind—the challenge that pushes you to grow, perform better, and accomplish things you never thought possible.
The key to happiness isn’t removing stress—it’s learning to shift your perspective. When you start seeing challenges as opportunities, stress becomes fuel for growth instead of a roadblock.
The Power of Eustress
Think about an athlete training for a big competition. The workouts are hard, the discipline is intense, but the reward? Worth it. Or imagine preparing for a speech—you feel the nerves, the anticipation, but when you deliver, there’s a sense of accomplishment. That’s eustress. It’s the type of stress that helps you grow stronger, smarter, and more resilient.
The next time you feel stress creeping in, ask yourself:🔹 Is this something I can use to grow?🔹 What can I learn from this?🔹 How can I turn this pressure into progress?
When people tell me their problems, I see an opportunity for growth. And let me tell you—most people hate me for that. 😊 But I’d rather help them shift their mindset than watch them be crushed by stress they could have used to level up.
Embrace the right kind of stress, and you’ll realize that pressure doesn’t just make diamonds—it makes stronger, more capable, and more fulfilled people. Hack Your Health: An Algorithm to Better Energy | Paperback
