Balance the Art and Science of Time

Juggling competing priorities and projects lately has reminded me of something simple but powerful: done is better than perfect.

There’s a real balance between effort and outcome. Spend too little time, and things feel undercooked. Spend too much, and you’re overcooking it—wasting time chasing perfection.

📌 Parkinson’s Law says: “Work expands to fill the time available.” If you give yourself a week for a 2-hour task, it’ll somehow take a week.

📌 Pareto Principle (80/20 Rule) reminds us: 80% of results often come from just 20% of the effort. Past a certain point, the return on time drops fast.

The sweet spot? Get it done, move it forward, and revisit later if needed. Drafts > Delay. Progress > Perfection.

Easier said than done—but that’s the art.
