I often ask people how they’re doing, especially when they look exhausted, stressed, or frustrated. Nearly every time, they admit they aren’t sleeping well. Sleep is the most underrated part of health and energy. People underestimate the discipline, practice, and effort required to achieve great sleep. But once you do, the benefits are massive.
Sleep is your body’s recovery chamber. It helps you heal from workouts, daily stress, and illness. It can be the best medicine to prevent or recover from sickness. If you don’t prioritize it, everything else suffers—your focus, mood, metabolism, and even your immune system.
One of my favorite books on this topic is Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. It made me rethink my entire approach to rest. I now focus on my pre-bed routine, my circadian rhythm, and the different sleep stages. I’ve also learned that waking up briefly at night isn’t as bad as I once thought.
I’ll admit—I’ve invested heavily in my sleep setup. My bed cost as much as my first car. But I’ve spent more time in my bed than in all my cars combined. The payoff has been worth it.
If you feel tired all the time, start by tracking your sleep. Pay attention to how much you get, how rested you feel, and what might be disrupting it. Small changes—like a consistent bedtime, limiting screens before bed, and making your room cool and dark—can make a big difference.
Sleep isn’t a luxury. It’s the foundation of your health. Invest in it. You won’t regret it. Hack Your Health: An Algorithm to Better Energy | Paperback
